Should I Buy a New Car?
As a provider of transmission repair in Des Plaines, IL, this question I hear more from my customers than any other. I think my customers think it’s cheaper in the long term or more logical to buy another car than to fix their broken transmission. It is a valid question and my question back is usually, “are you going to buy a new one or used”?
This question is more important than any other. Most of the time, my customers say “used.” The problem with a used car is that you don’t know what you’re going to get. Driving your car daily, you probably know everything that’s wrong with it, more than you would your house or apartment. We spend a lot of time in our cars between traffic, shopping and going to work. We know every little detail about them. Some people can remember which exact button on their dash feels a little funny.
The biggest issue I have with buying someone else’s car is that you don’t know if it’s any better or worse than your original car until it’s too late. This is why we will often recommend transmission replacement in Des Plaines. Sometimes people get stuck with lemons or get a car that drove perfectly for six months and then breaks down all of the sudden. My thoughts are to always do your research, be diligent, and always buy an extended warranty when you can.
Then of course, I have a few who say “I will buy a brand new car,” only to come back a few days later in shock. New cars are getting more and more expensive. There are increasingly more electronics and computers for better fuel economy. Sometimes it’s worth fixing that old car and getting at least another few years out of it. Everyone’s situation is different, of course. Only you will know what’s best for you. These are just a few examples from my daily experiences when deciding to purchase a rebuilt transmission or seeking fleet transmission services in Des Plaines or transmission repair in Des Plaines, IL. You must do what’s best for you, in your current situation.
